Beaujolais Nouveau Day - the celebration of the end of the harvest and the release of the new, young wine from the region of eastern France, Beaujolais.
Beaujolais wine is fresh, fruity and clean, and this is the result of a fast fermentation process. Its easy drinkability is because of a winemaking process called carbon maceration, or 'whole-berry' fermentation - this process keeps all of the fruity and fresh qualities of the grapes without bringing out the bitterness from the grape skins.
The most famous celebration of Beaujolais Nouveau is held in the capital of the Beaujolais region, Beaujeu. This celebration takes place as a 5-day festival which is made up of wine-tasting, live music and dancing, and in the evening a torch lit parade and fireworks.
Beaujolais day is now celebrated worldwide and is an extravagant day of dressing up in your finest, dining, entertainment, and of course...wine drinking!
This year, Beaujolais day is on Thursday November 15th - clear your diary, find out what's going on in Swansea/Neath/Port Talbot and get in touch with MD Travel Neath for your travel arrangements :)
